Harmony Across Centuries is a part of my research for my Final Year Project. This infographic poster represents the evolving perceptions of harmony through three significant periods: the Confucian Era, 20th-century Singapore, and contemporary 21st-century Singapore.
First is the warmth and balance of the Confucian era, characterized by a harmonious relationship between humans and nature. Moving into the 20th century, the poster highlights the inclusivity and positive social interactions prevalent in Singapore’s kampong spirit. Finally, the contemporary segment depicts individuals coexisting while masking their true emotions, based on insights from the interviews that I’ve conducted that suggest harmony is often reduced to mere “tolerance.”
